Sixth Month in Review

No, it's not a scarf... it's a drool bib. It's a Swiss thing.

The Boston obsession has begun.
Our big boy- holding a bottle on his own!
Musings from the Bumbo
Reading with Dad
Where to start??!

Happy Half-Birthday Kiddo!

This progression pretty much shows the theme of the sixth month.... aware of EVERYTHING and completely distracted by it.

Sleep Training

We've spent the past 1+ weeks sleep training Noah. Painful as it was to see him so upset, it needed to be done. I now have a lot more time on my hands because he is actually napping and I am not spending insane amounts of time doing circus tricks trying to get him to nap. On my to-do list was catch up on the blog, so as anyone who gets update emails can clearly see, I've been busy today/yesterday (sorry for all the emails). I back dated the posts, so there may be intermittent new posts back to Nov. 15th even if you have been checking the blog regularly.

Still trying to get somewhere (generally after Boston's toys)

Noah is nearly 6 months old, so naturally he is working on his mobility. He still can't get anywhere quickly, but he is working on it. I know that fateful day will be here before I know it!

Happy New Year!

We flew back to Zürich on the 30th (meaning we arrived on the 31st). Just in time to ring in the new year by the lake.
Unfortunately, Matt was still in major pain, so getting on and off the airplane was a bit complex. LUCKILY a friend of ours that lives here in Zürich happened to be on our flight and helped us with bags. I'm not really sure what we would have done without her! Noah was great on the flight home. He got lots of little Swiss Air gifts on the way home from the stewardesses. Though I find their seats more cramped, Swiss Air still has some of the old school niceties that you lose on the American airlines.

We had grandiose plans to ring in the new year at a party, but we were exhausted and Matt was hurting, so we just went down to the lake with a nice bottle of champagne and watched the fireworks. Naturally, Noah slept through the extremely loud fireworks.

Boston hoping no one noticed she found a warmer seat...

We miss the ball dropping, but there is something to be said for fireworks & no 'open container' laws

Noah fell asleep just in time for the fireworks

Snow!

The same snow that shrunk our Baptism guest list left us with quite a bit of snow at my Parents' house. They are by the water, so it is unusual to get so much accumulation. The snow in Zürich rarely accumulates too much (only up at higher altitudes), so this was the first time Noah had really touched/sat in snow.

Noah was so excited he built this snowball.

Noah's Baptism

On the Saturday before we left, we had Noah baptized. It was a very small affair, but sadly it was made even smaller by an inopportune snowstorm. All the out of state family couldn't come, which was a bummer, but understandable. It actually turned out to be quite an eventful day, as Matt's back went out that morning. He was in so much pain we were wondering how he was going to even make it through the Baptism. Luckily, my father had this crazy Rasta style walking stick from Jamaica (HILARIOUS)... it pretty much saved Matt during the ceremony.
To add insult to injury, as we are leaving the restaurant and it is snowing pretty hard, we put Noah in the car, shut the door, and realized that all the doors locked. The key AND my cell phone inside. This was our first baby emergency. Thankfully there was another key at my parent's house, but Noah was screaming and I was freaking out. As my parents rushed home to get the key, Matt suggested I try the back window... luckily it was open and I literally threw flew through the window to rescue poor Noah. It was scary :(

Dom & Julie

Next stop on the tour... Darien, CT to have dinner with Dom & Julie. Our visit was short but sweet and the food was super yummy.

Visiting the Tia's

We spent the day today up in the Hartford area visiting my Mom's aunts. Noah was loving the attention. The second stop of the day was at a nursing home where another of my mother's aunts lives. While we were there, my mom's cousin Anna was bouncing Noah and he was literally falling asleep in her arms. He slept soundly the whole way home! Coincidence or are they pumping something through the air? hmmm....
