Swimming is exhausting!
Noah fell asleep on the way home from swimming while gnawing dried apple. Ha.

Big Weekend of Firsts
It has been quite a busy weekend for Noah (so far, since it's only Saturday). Yesterday he was playing around on the floor and suddenly started blowing raspberries like it was his job (he had never done this before). It was so sudden and he did it for so long that I was actually worried he was having some sort of allergic reaction to one of the new foods we had introduced.
Then, today, we got home from the grocery store and I lay him down in the living room to play while we put things away. I came back a few minutes later and he was sitting. My mind was blown. He had never gotten from laying down to sitting on his own, in fact, I was just thinking yesterday how I felt like he was nowhere near being able to do that (clearly I was quite wrong). Of course, I had to make him do it again to make sure I wasn't going crazy (I wasn't) and then a third time for posterity. The video is long because it's still a bit of a slow process, but be patient ;o)

Sixth Month in Review
Happy Half-Birthday Kiddo!
This progression pretty much shows the theme of the sixth month.... aware of EVERYTHING and completely distracted by it.

Sleep Training
We've spent the past 1+ weeks sleep training Noah. Painful as it was to see him so upset, it needed to be done. I now have a lot more time on my hands because he is actually napping and I am not spending insane amounts of time doing circus tricks trying to get him to nap. On my to-do list was catch up on the blog, so as anyone who gets update emails can clearly see, I've been busy today/yesterday (sorry for all the emails). I back dated the posts, so there may be intermittent new posts back to Nov. 15th even if you have been checking the blog regularly.

Still trying to get somewhere (generally after Boston's toys)
Noah is nearly 6 months old, so naturally he is working on his mobility. He still can't get anywhere quickly, but he is working on it. I know that fateful day will be here before I know it!

Happy New Year!
We flew back to Zürich on the 30th (meaning we arrived on the 31st). Just in time to ring in the new year by the lake.
Unfortunately, Matt was still in major pain, so getting on and off the airplane was a bit complex. LUCKILY a friend of ours that lives here in Zürich happened to be on our flight and helped us with bags. I'm not really sure what we would have done without her! Noah was great on the flight home. He got lots of little Swiss Air gifts on the way home from the stewardesses. Though I find their seats more cramped, Swiss Air still has some of the old school niceties that you lose on the American airlines.
We had grandiose plans to ring in the new year at a party, but we were exhausted and Matt was hurting, so we just went down to the lake with a nice bottle of champagne and watched the fireworks. Naturally, Noah slept through the extremely loud fireworks.
Boston hoping no one noticed she found a warmer seat... |
We miss the ball dropping, but there is something to be said for fireworks & no 'open container' laws |
Noah fell asleep just in time for the fireworks |
